Authors: Aside from the Bible, which I read every day almost with out fail, I do love to read others books as well. Jamie Langston Turner is my favorite author of all time. She is a Southern Writer and her stories are about modern day life, facing modern day problems, in vivid story telling style, all with a Christian perspective. She has some great recurring characters that you will recognize from your own life. Have you read her? If not give her a try and let me know what you think. I’ve read all her books and I have not been disappointed by any. My favorite is probably A Garden To Keep. Faithful Reader has a great interview with her.
Another favorite is Francine Rivers. She used to be a Romance novelist before she came to know Jesus. The last book I read by her was Redeeming Love. It is the story of the book of Hosea set in the 1800′s. It is a book that tears at your heart I am not sure I have ever cried so much or felt so much emotion reading a book before. Another of her books that I really liked was Unspoken. It is the story of David and Bathsheba.
Other authors I like are Max Lucado, John and Staci Eldredge, Anne Tyler, Helen Hooven Santmyer, Janette Oke, and Bodie and Brock Thoene, Lee Child, Sue Grafton, and John Grisham. I love classics like Little Women, Eight Cousins, and Rose in Bloom by Lousa May Alcott, and Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen is one of my very favorites.
Movies: The adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility” by Emma Thompson is probably my favorite movie. I have see a PBS version of it and liked it very much too. I love comedy romance movies like “When Harry Met Sally” but I don’t like the rough language in it so I watch it with the remote. I like “You’ve Got Mail”, “Sleepless in Seattle”, oldies like “Yours, Mine, and Ours”, “The Parent Trap”, and “My Girl”. I love all the John Grisham adaptations. And Si Fi such as all The StarTrack movies, “The Terminator” 1 & 2, “The Matrix”, and way to many to list. I love old TV shows of StarTrack, and the sit coms from the 60′s, 70′s and some from the 80′s.
Music: Jazz is my favorite music, Christian or secular. I love 60′s and 70′s Rock for the most part, Country music, and Contemporary Christian. I listen to Air1 all the time in the car and often at home. But mostly I play CD’s. Fred Hammond is on my changer most of time. If it is Contemporary Christian I probably like it and sing it. Christmas music is another favorite and sometimes I will listen to the really old stuff from the 50′s back to the 30′s and Classical as well. I guess I pretty much like listening to music and I can’t relate at all when I hear someone say “I don’t like any music much.” BTW if you look at the left hand side of this page you can hear a track from The Rock Church album the church I attend.
What about you? Do you read? Who do you read? Do you watch Movies and TV? What is your favorite? And what about Music? Do you have some favorites? I love to hear from you so please leave a note.
